Raquel Maestre is originally from Murcia, Spain. Even with such setbacks, she has made a place for herself in Montreal comedy with her deadpan commentary on life as a transgender immigrant and the hilariousness of these times of impending doom. Her debut solo show, Admiring Librarians, was nominated for Best English Comedy at this year’s Montreal Fringe.

She has been featured on one of Spain’s most important comedy festivals, Cruïlla, as well as Zoofest-OFFJFL, Montreal Sketchfest, Gigglefest, Ladyfest Montreal, Winterlewd, and Pervers/Cité festivals. Raquel has performed in four languages in both Canada and Spain, and has created some of the staple shows in the Montreal queer and independent comedy scene, A Very Pretentious Comedy Show and The Poly Mic.
